Tooth Replacement

Beautiful teeth, beautiful smile!
Beautiful teeth, beautiful smile!

Whether through trauma, decay, or misadventure, a large segment of the population are missing at least one tooth. According to Statistics Canada 6.4% of adults have lost every one of their teeth. While dentures used to be the only option available, tooth replacement has come a long way as technology advanced. Today there is an extensive selection of options available, with dental implants being the most popular option. Patients at 8 West Dental Care are able to restore their smiles with teeth replacement services performed by our team of dental professionals.

Teeth Replacement Options At 8 West Dental Care

As part of our service to the local community, we’re dedicated to providing a range of dental replacement options at our clinic. Each of these options makes it possible to restore your smile, replacing a single tooth, a full arch, or even both arches with new teeth with a natural appearance.

Dental Implants

This form of dental replacement involves the insertion of a titanium post into the jawbone. Titanium has the unique property of encouraging bone growth and thereby strengthening it. When the healing process is over, these implants will be as sturdy as your own natural teeth and also need to be checked at your regular visits to your dentist for in-depth cleaning.

All-On-X Implants

This form of dental implant treatment replaces an entire arch of teeth. It is possible to mount a full set of porcelain or acrylic teeth on just four to six posts embedded in your jawbone in both arches. This reduces the overall cost of the procedure by limiting the number of required implants, creating a dental replacement that is stronger and more stable than dentures.

Tooth-Supported Fixed Bridge

When you’re only missing a limited number of teeth, bridges may be a possible replacement option. The teeth found on both sides of the space created by the missing tooth are prepared to form a mount for a crown. A special replacement is made that has a crown on each end (the abutment teeth) supporting a replacement tooth in between. This type of replacement is permanently cemented in place and must be cared for in the same way as your natural teeth. Once in place, they function the same as your natural teeth and are indistinguishable from them to the casual observer.
